Service Learning

On March 5th, 2018, we visited the Grenadian Disability Association and spent time with the members, an event held by the Grenada Red Cross Society. We were able to provide basic health care, teach individuals about maintaining their health, and even help them with their assistive devices.

All the patients were so excited to get their blood sugars tested, blood pressures taken, and just have a nice conversation with fresh faces! They had so much excitement on their faces when we recorded their findings on little papers they could take home. We were also able to offer breast health teaching to some of the staff members.

The photo on the right is of my patient Filda, and the granddaughter of the director of the Grenadian Disability Association, Nia. It is also through this service learning event that I was able to play with Nia, and solidify my love for pediatrics and children. On the photo to the right Nia and I were able to play and bond---Filda said Nia wants to be a nurse when she grows up.
