Welcome to the

Women's Symposium

The day of our women's health symposium was a big day for us!  All of our pamphlets on menopause, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and even prostate cancer were going to be put to great use. We arrived to the Golden Age Center, and were soon greeted by so many women and men who regularly meet every Wednesday at this location. As we went through our presentations, they all seemed eager to learn about what we were teaching and even excited to take our pamphlets home for reference/to show those who couldn't attend.

Although this was a women's symposium, we were ecstatic to see that some men were in attendance! For this reason, we were able to give them our prostate cancer/health pamphlets, and present on the importance of getting prostate exams as well as signs and symptoms. However, we gave all pamphlets to everyone---regardless of gender---so they could share and spread the knowledge to loved ones and friends.

After the presentations were done, we were able to take their blood sugars and blood pressures if they wanted. Then, it was time to spend some time and bond with them! I was able to spend some time with a very cute old lady who was soft spoken, but excited for us to be there. I had some porridge and talked to her about our trip to Grenada so far, and beautiful her country is! In the photo above we are all holding porridge that the staff made for us as well as the regular men and women who come. It was an honor to be able to provide teaching to these men and women about health, and that our pamphlets are something they will be referencing for life.
